Just wondered what your opinions are of Ridgewell to be dropped as hes helped concead 3 goals in the last 3 games

Arsenal, Walcott's 2nd goal
Spurs, Jenas
Pompey Cross for Murphy's handball for Defoe's handball

Dont get me wrong hes a real good defender but hes starting to worry me

He should have been dropped much earlier in the season 5 weeks ago if you ask me. He really impressed at the start of the season people even talked of him for England but god knows what's happend to him since then. He should never have been captain either.

I'd switch him for Parnaby at RB and Kelly in the centre.

Kelly makes AMAZING last ditch tackles, I haven't seen Ridgewell do many of them.

He lets a goal go in, then plays a blinder for the rest of the match... when it's too late!

You cant drop him at all because we have no one to come in. Kelly cant play centre back on a regular basis ive seen him fill in there loads of times and he looks very un easy doing it and it upsets the balance of the side. AM just needs to give him a kick up the ****. If you take all his mistakes and I know people say they always cost us goals but think of all the times he has saved us at the back think ur find they out weigh the mistakes

Im sorry but the more f'in ridgewell (I think Liam is his nickname cuz that all i hear people call him nowdays) plays the more he reminds me of Darren Purse great for 87mins then makes stupid mistakes that cost us. last night he was at fault for deffintally 2 of the goals.. the first clearence which lead to the penalty.. then the third that he let the ball hit him instead of putting his foot through it. I agree with who do you drop him for, call K pearce back??? or is that too much of a gamble?

Would Mcleish have brought him?????

Theres no competition at centre back and its been a problem all season ridgwell's mistakes always seem to be very costly and theres at least one a game. its a problem that we have to put up with till the end of the season and the cost could be the drop! But we were very unlucky last night and the ref was a ............i think its best if i stop there! KRO!!!

Ridgewell had a shocking game last night....but as others have said, there isn't anyone to come in for him - schmidt is, well, rubbish, taylor is still out, otherwise we have to play a player out of position which doesn't work....so that's it, we are stuck with him.......

I just don't know why he makes these mistakes - is it nerves or something, whatever though he needs a kick up the backside.

No competition at the back thanks to Karren Brady, David Gold and David Sullivan
who failed to back the manager in the January TW, cocked up the Cahill transfer and never had a plan B for backup, looks like their decision to go with what we had may well come back to haunt us taking into account Tiny's ban and Ridgewells loss of form of late.

I'd like to say that Ridgewell has had an up and down season with a few bad games but he hasn't. He's just been consistently average and isn't good enough to be starting week in-week out.

The rare games this season when we've looked solid at the back have been when Tiny has played and I'm maintaining what I said months ago that the best CB combo we've got at the club is Tiny and Jaidi. Neither Schmitz nor Ridgewell are good enough IMHO.

We need consistency!

But the main problem would be with kelly at CB is he isnt the biggest so we would prob be very weak in the air.

No weaker than Ridgers.

I can remember Ridgewell making a great clearance off the line earlier in the season and scoring a great header. You could easily argue that Murphey caused Pompey to score two last night!

Why maybe for the forth when we got caught attacking but we were chasing the game, the pen is down to ridgewell, im sorry but if we had competion for places he would not be playing

Wouldn't want to see Jaidi and Taylor together though (or Schmitz).

Time to drop Ridgewell IMO, I'm sure these mistakes are'nt going unnoticed and Alex McLeish has replacements in mind already.

Put Kelly to CB and bring Parnaby in who has done well every time he's come in. Remember Kelly did ok at CB against Adeybayor and Bendtner, he can do the job.

Even play Queudrue at CB, at least he's got a footballing brain, he would know when not to mess about.

Ridgewell played badly and there was at least 3 other mistakes in last nights game that went unpunished. Maybe dropping him will make him buck up his ideas.

I`m more concerned with Maik Taylor, another two goals could be levelled at him again last night. He`s been good over the years but i think we need new blood between the sticks.

Mcleish is looking for a replacement, Taylor is getting old though i would love him to finish his career with us, there will be a new keeper come the summer in my opinion

Schmitz has been vilified for less, at least he looks like he can make it through a game without giving a goal away.

I agree, i think that AM is just making the best of what he has until he can bring in talent of his own.

I think that Ridgewell will be the the thorn in AM and the squads side at the moment. It dont matter how good a manager he is and how much preperation he puts in, AM loses games because of simple defending basics. Ridgewell should be made to watch that game to see where he is going wrong. He just panic defends all the time a very weak link in what is become a tight squad. If we had options he would be on the bench < <

TBH both of them are prone to an error, goes back to not getting a CB in Jan, lets just hope it doesnt cost us.
